The trailer for this movie looked really exciting. However, there aren't that many scary bits to it. The best part was already spoiled by the trailer.

Tomb Raider woman plays the role of a profiling detective. She is an expert FBI agent sent to some under staffed Canadian city to investigate a series of murders. I enjoyed the story up until she explained the full profile to the police. I was still piecing together the story in my head. However, events that happen after that point in time are quite ridiculous so I gave guessing the plot. This movie becomes more entertaining when you stop thinking about the plot.

There is a sex scene in it, where she shows her breasts! But the guy was fully clothed.

The acting was good throughout the movie, lots of twists and misinformation, flat dialogue. 3 out of 5 stars.

I found "Taking Lives" to be a very average crime/thriller. Even if I evaluated the film on its own merits, and try not to compare it to "Se7en" or "Silence of the Lambs", where the killer is also known to us, it had a few questionable moments.

There was no chemistry between Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke's characters, so their relationship seems a little unbelievable. A relationship with Olivier Martinez or even Tcheky Karyo would have been a little more convincing.

Angelina Jolie again plays a tough, strong woman, flaunting her usual pouty lips and mammaries.

All the best bits have already been spoken for in the trailer. The mood and settings are good enough, but as a whole, "Taking Lives" is not plausible or clever enough. Probably only worth watching in the cinemas for the atmospherics.
