Runaway Jury is about a high profile court case about the lack of responsibility in the distribution of weapons by a gun company. In America this may be an important subject but to me I was more interested in the characters. John Cusack plays a persuasive jury member. I liked how influential he was, and the tricks he played to persuade people, but other than the movie is a bit bland for me. I didn't like the ending either.

The trailers for "The Runaway Jury" incorrectly marketed the movie as an action-packed film, promising chases and various acts of violence. Audience seeking action will be disappointed, as will audiences expecting an intellectual courtroom drama. The "Runaway Jury" is a courtroom drama dumbed down for public consumption, featuring smatterings of action and righteous preaching.
Gene Hackman wallows in evilness in his role as a blatantly Greedy Lawyer. Dustin Hoffman does the same in his role as the Righteous Lawyer with no dress sense. The characters are so obviously polarized in their good vs. bad roles. The intentions of John Cusack and Rachel Weisz's characters are slowly fed to us, and the audience did not have to connect the dots at any stage in the film.
An average film. Suitable for renting or wait for free to air.
